The differences between hot reserve and cold reserve are as follows:

Different definitions. When the target device fails or stops, the hot spare device immediately takes over the work tasks of the faulty device. After a fault or shutdown occurs on a target device, the cold standby device changes from the waiting state to the starting state and takes over the tasks of the faulty device.

Startup occurs differently. When a server fails, hot backup automatically switches to another server. Cold standby does not automatically switch. You need to manually start or service the cold standby.

The technical principles are different. Hot backup is a way to ensure business continuity by using point of failure transfer. Cold backup is used to temporarily change the ip address of the backup database machine when a commercial database fails.
