MRU2 is commonly used for roll and pitch measurements in offshore riser monitoring systems, dynamic positioning systems, telecommunication antenna systems, and motion damping systems on high-speed ships. The device must be mounted in a fixed orientation relative to the vessel and is best suited for applications with limited roll and pitch range. If unlimited mounting directions and/or an unlimited mounting range are required, an MRU model with sensors on all three axes is recommended.

The MRU is suitable for any offshore operation that requires attitude determination and motion compensation. Kongsberg's range of motion sensors provides high precision motion measurement in all dynamic environments.
