The Artesyn Embedded Technology MVME5100 series features NXP MPC7410 or MPC750 microprocessors with 32 KB/32 KBL1 cache. It uses the Artesyn PowerPlus lI architecture to support full PCI throughput of 264MB/s without depleting the processor's memory.
PowerPlus lI is based on an integrated PCI bridge memory controller ASIC and can achieve a memory read bandwidth of 582mb /s and a burst write bandwidth of 640MB/s. The MVME5100 is designed to meet the needs of Oems serving the defense and aerospace, industrial automation, and transportation segments.
Historically, Artesyn has offered two tracks in its PowerPCRArchitecture VME portfolio. The first track (including the MVME2600/2700) provides typical single-board computer /O features, including Ethernet, SCSI, multiple serial ports, parallel ports, and a single PMC slot. The on-board I/O is routed to P2 and provided to the user via the Artesyn MVME761 or MVME712M transition board. The second track (including the MVME2300/2400) offers limited onboard I/O(Ethernet and a single serial port through the front panel), but offers dual PMC slots for large user I/O customization. The MVME5100 combines the best features of both tracks, enabling Oems to support different I/O requirements using the same base platform, simplifying part number maintenance, technical expertise requirements and savings.
The MVME5100 supports two jumper configurable P2IV/O modes; PMC and IPMC. PMC mode is backward compatible
MVME230O/MVME2400. In PMC mode, 64 pins of PMC slot 1 and 46 pins of PMC slot 2 are available for PMC rear I/O. In IPMC mode, when PMC slot 1 is filled with an IPMC761 or IPMC712 PMC card,
The MVME5100 supports traditional MVME761 or MVME712M I/O modules (with limited PMC I/O). In this configuration, PMC slot 2 contains some signals reserved for extended SCSI.
