I/O packages or modules feature specific acquisition boards connected to processor boards. To verify that the application code, acquisition board, and terminal board match correctly, the application code reads the ID information of the board.

PROFIBUS Gateway Hardware:

The PROFIBUS DP(Distributed Peripherals) function is implemented by firmware in the PPRFs COM-C module, which is based on Siemens ASPC2 technology. The PPRF provides only basic DPV0 functionality, including configuring slave devices, cycling I/O data with them, and receiving PROFIBUS diagnostics, although the COM-C module has DPV1 functionality.

Data flow between PPRF and controller:

Fixed I/O and PROFIBUS I/O are two types of data flows between the PPRF and the controller. The few fixed inputs and outputs include those shared by all I/O packages, including L3DIAG and IOPackTmpr, but no application-driven outputs. The PPRF firmware contains a predefined set of fixed I/ OS. Depending on the hardware configuration provided by the application, PROFIBUS I/O is defined as the data that PROFIBUS exchanges between devices.
