IC698CMX016 is a control memory exchange module from the PACSystem RX7i platform of the Programmable Automation Controller (PAC). This component is essentially a Memory module, but the main function of IC698CMX016 is to use reflective memory technology to provide deterministic data sharing between PLC and compatible devices through optical fiber network.

This module is equipped with 16 MB SDRAM reflective memory and has parity check function. It is installed on the RX7i rack and occupies a single slot on the backplane. This module is independent of the CPU as it does not require any CPU processing to run. In addition, it is network compatible with VMIC 5565 series reflective storage devices.

The communication interface of IC698CMX016 includes an LC fiber port that supports a transmission speed of 984.25 Gbaud on multimode fiber media with a maximum distance of 2 meters or 12.300 feet. The supported dynamic packet size ranges from 4 to 64 bytes (maximum network transmission rate of 4 MB/s in 43 byte packets) to 64 MB/s in 174 byte packets. The Memory module can communicate with up to 256 nodes in each network, and supports redundant transmission mode operation.

The front panel of IC698CMX016 is equipped with various LED status indicators, such as OK, configuration, self owned data, and signal detection. To utilize the functionality of IC698CMX016, it must be installed on an RX00i CPU with firmware version 7.2 or later, an RX7i CPU rack with power, and configured using Proficy Machine Edition - Logic Developer PLC, version 4.5 or later.
