The IC697CPM790-GD is a 90-70 series Programmable Logic controller (PLC) CPU. The CPU is a single slot wide module designed for critical applications such as emergency shutdown systems, fire fighting, gas and other applications. The CPU supports triple media redundancy (TMR) by incorporating independent C programs to enable automated test routines.

The IC697CPM790-GD has 1 MB of battery backup memory and up to 512KB is available for user programs configured using the ladder diagram programming language. When configured in simplex mode, the CPU supports up to 12K discrete input and output points in any combination; 2048 votes for discrete input, 2048 votes for discrete output. Similarly, the IC697CPM790-GD is capable of handling up to 8K analog inputs and outputs, any combination when running in simplex mode, and 1024 voting analog inputs. It is equipped with an 80486DX2 microprocessor with a clock speed of 64 MHz. The CPU has a relatively fast scan rate of 0.4 microseconds per Boolean function, making it suitable for critical applications.

The IC697CPM790-GD supports Triple modular redundancy (TMR) for system downtime. This TMR setup essentially consists of triple PLC racks, each with one (1) IC697CPM790 CPU, triple Genius I/O bus, and triple input sensors and triple output loads.
