When used as remote I/O, the PAC8000 node communicates with the host controller through a local area network (LAN) using a Bus Interface Module (BIM). BIM provides various packaging styles based on its functionality, each of which is installed on a dedicated BIM carrier.

PAC8000 I/O is a fully modular I/O solution suitable for general and hazardous area applications. It provides a variety of I/O functions and has an open architecture that allows communication with various field buses by selecting the appropriate type of Bus Interface Module (BIM) or controller.

The field terminals (one per I/O module) are clipped into the bracket and accept field wiring, without the need for additional terminals or connections. If damaged on site, it can be easily replaced. A comprehensive mechanical keying system ensures the safety of maintenance equipment.

The carrier forms the physical and electrical backbone of the PAC8000 by installing it on a flat plate or T-shaped or G-shaped cross-section DIN rail. They support and interconnect BIMs or controllers, power supplies, I/O modules, and field terminals, and carry the address, data, and power lines of internal railway passenger cars
