The 3500/22M Transient Data Interface (TDI) is the software that interfaces between the 3500 monitoring system and compatible systems (System 1 Status Monitoring and Diagnostic Software and 3500 System Configuration Software). TDI combines the functionality of the 3500/20 Rack Interface Module (RIM) with communication data collection capabilities such as processors such as TDXnet. TDI is located in the 3500 rack. It works with M-series monitors (3500/40M, 3500/42M, etc.) to continuously collect steady-state transient dynamic (waveform) data and transmit it to the host software through an Ethernet link. The static data capture capability is a standard configuration of TDI. However, using optional channel enabled disks will allow TDI to capture dynamic and high-resolution transient data as well. Although TDI provides certain general functions for the entire rack, it is not a part of the critical monitoring path and does not affect the correct and normal operation of the overall mechanical automatic protection monitoring system. Each 3500 rack requires a TDI or RIM, which always occupies slot 1 (next to the power supply).
