3500/53 Overspeed detection module

The electronic overspeed detection system of Bentley's 3500 Series Mechanical Inspection systems is a highly reliable, fast responding redundant tachometer system specifically designed for overspeed protection of machinery. The 3500/53 module can be used to compose a 2-opt-2 or 3-opt-2 (recommended) voting system. The 3500 frame with the overspeed detection system requires a redundant power supply.

Each overspeed detection module receives a signal from an eddy current sensor or magnetic sensor, with the input signal ranging from +10.0V to -24.0V. Signals outside this range are limited within the module. Suitable for Bentley 3300 8mm eddy current sensor, 330016mm High temperature Eddy current sensor (HTPS), 7200 5mm.8mm.11mm and 14mm eddy current sensor, 3300RAM Eddy current sensor, or magnetic sensor.

The Bentley 3500/53 overspeed protection module is designed as a channel module, which is suitable for overspeed protection applications in two or three module groups. The module receives a speed pulse input signal from the proximity sensor or magnetoelectric sensor and uses this input signal to drive the alarm. For machine protection purposes, the module offers four fast response alarm relay outputs. 3500 overspeed protection system is configured into two modules, one table block or three modules, two out of three voting Settings.

The most basic purpose of the 3500 overspeed protection system is to provide 1) drive the alarm by continuously comparing the current machine speed with the alarm setting point of the configuration to achieve machine protection and 2) provide important machine speed information to the operator and maintenance personnel. Use the 3500 framework configuration software to set the alarm setup point.

When shipped from the factory, the 3500/53 has no configuration. When required, the 3500/53 can be installed and configured to the 3500 frame in order to achieve the required monitoring functions.

As part of the 3500 Machine management and protection system, the three-channel 3500/53 Overspeed protection system provides high reliability overspeed protection. The three-channel overspeed protection system consists of 3500 frame, 3500 power supply, frame interface module and three independent overspeed protection modules. Three separate sensor inputs are required. The 3500/53 module can be installed in any slot (2-15) to the right of the frame interface module, but the three module groups must be installed next to each other. Only one set of overspeed protection systems can be installed in each 3500 frame. The 3500/53 overspeed protection system can be installed in the 3500 frame with other 3500 monitoring functions.

The three-channel overspeed protection system provides three independent speed monitoring channels. In case of alarm, the three-channel overspeed protection system can be configured to provide a voting function of 3 to 2. With this feature, the alarm output from each module is compared and the two modules must be consistent before the relay is driven.
