3500/53 is an electronic overspeed detection system designed and developed by Bently Nevada. The Bentley Nevada electronic overspeed detection system used for the 3500 series mechanical detection system is a highly reliable and responsive redundant tachometer system designed as part of the overspeed protection system. It is designed to meet the overspeed protection requirements of American Petroleum Institute (API) standards 670 and 612. These modules can be combined into a two-thirds or two-thirds voting system (recommended). The overspeed detection system requires a 3500 rack with redundant power supplies.

Signal: Each overspeed detection module receives a single sensor signal from an eddy current probe or magnetic pickup. The voltage range of the input signal is+10.0 V to -24.0 V, and signals outside this range are internally limited by the module.

Alarm Setpoint: The speed can be set below and above the alarm level (set point). You can also set the danger (overspeed) setting for speed. All alarm setpoints are configured using software. The alarm is adjustable and can usually be set between 0% and 100% of the full scale speed range.

Alarm delay: Above 30 Hz but less than 300 ms.
