The GE/Bently Nevada 3500/40M Series Proximity Monitor is a 4-channel monitor that accepts input from Bently Nevada eddy current sensors, regulates signals to provide various vibration and position measurements, and compares the regulated signals with user programmable alarms. The user can use the 3500 Rack Configuration Software to program each channel of the 40/3500M to perform any of the following functions: radial vibration, thrust position, differential expansion, eccentricity, and REBAM.

According to the configuration, each channel typically adjusts its input signal to various parameters called "static values". Users can configure alarm setpoints for each active static value and danger setpoints for any two active static values.
