The 16 channel relay module is a full height module that provides 16 relay outputs. Any number of 16 channel relay modules can be placed in the right slot of any cabinet interface module. Each output 16 channel relay module can be independently programmed to execute the required voting logic. Each relay used on the 16 channel relay module includes "alarm driver logic". The programmed alarm driver logic uses AND or logic and can use alarm inputs (alarm and danger states), not OK, or any combination of monitor channels or channels from individual PPL racks. Users use 3500 rack configuration software to program this alarm driver to meet specific application requirements.
1.3500 monitors are certified as Zone 2 standards (including ATEX and North America) with multiple order approval option (-02). Zone 2 standard specifies increasing spacing requirements at higher voltages
The 3500/33 relay does not meet these spacing requirements. Therefore, the use of multiple approval options for ordering 3500/33 relays has historically been limited to a lower level of voltage compared to a higher approved option for another arrangement. The use of higher voltage violates the hazardous area certificate and is associated with multiple approval options. (The North American Zone 2 standard is associated with the CSA only approvals option (-01) and has been reduced to 30Vrms to meet the requirements of the 61010-1 type test.)
If the 3500/33 is a part of functional safety (SIL) system, the functional safety certificate needs to limit the voltage. Higher voltages do not allow the use of Functional Safety (SIL) systems.
3. Field wiring can be connected to conductors such as 3500/33 relays that are exposed to potential human contact. This may pose a risk of electric shock under high voltage. Customers should only use 3500/33 relays with voltages up to 30Vrms. Appropriate safety measures should be taken to prevent the danger of electric shock.
