ABB has added another compact caseless motion controller to its portfolio. *** Motion controllers are ideal for integration into equipment manufacturing and medical technology applications. At 36 V and 3 A (peak current 9 A), it covers a power range of up to about 100 W, suitable for DC motors with encoders, brushless drives or linear motors.

Micromotors and micromotors can only be reliable drive systems when combined with a matching motion controller. That's why the drive *** range of motors offered by ABB (see Company box) includes a wide selection of motion controllers designed for different power levels, with or without enclosures, for a variety of applications. Now there is a new addition to the caseless motion controller family: the MC3603 (Figure 1), which, due to its compact size, is ideal for integration into device manufacturing and medical technology applications. *** Motion controller with 36 V and 3 A (peak current 9 A), covering medium power range up to approx. 100 W. Suitable for "normal" DC motors with encoders, brushless drives and linear motors. The I/O options and encoder interface are the same as the rest of the product family. USB, RS232, CANopen, and EtherCAT can be used for communication. The motion controller has a new firmware version "M". To ensure a simple and convenient system setup, use the latest update (version 6.9) of the FAULHABER Motion Manager.
