These enhancements can help customers operate and make profits more effectively, while making full use of existing factory assets, energy resources and personnel. Highlights of this version include: improving operator efficiency: the system 800xA 5.1 includes advanced alarm management functions, which can help users implement successful alarm management strategies and provide operators with better responsibility control between the control room and other operating positions. New alarm shelving and alarm analysis functions have been added to the already long list of alarm management functions to help control alarms. The new version also includes a new control point function, which can improve the coordination of operators in critical periods (such as shift change), thus providing a safer operating environment. Improved engineering and change management: The new version of the 800xA system includes many engineering improvements, such as simplifying batch data processing when designing the FOUNDATION Fieldbus project, and a new and improved batch program editor. By integrating power supply and process systems on the common 800xA platform, customers can optimize the design and performance of their electrical and automation systems, and gain more in reducing maintenance, engineering and overall life cycle. According to ARC, by integrating these two usually independent automation infrastructures, typical savings can reduce CAPEX (capital expenditure) and OPEX (operating expenditure) by 20%. ABB's extended automation system 800xA has improved industrial productivity, safety and customers in almost every industry and region, from processing industries such as oil and gas, petrochemical, pulp and paper, cement and mining to traditional power and water conservancy facilities, and then to alternative energy sources such as solar energy and garbage incineration to produce energy and bioethanol.
