Select I/O is an Ethernet networked single-channel fine-grained I/O System for the ABB Ability™ System 800xA automation platform. Select I/O helps separate project tasks, minimizes the impact of late changes, and supports the standardization of I/O cabinets, ensuring automation projects are delivered on time and on budget. The Signal Conditioning Module (SCM) performs the necessary signal conditioning and power supply for connected field devices in an I/O channel.

The CI845 Ethernet Fieldbus Communication Interface Module (FCI) is responsible for the communication between the S800 I/O or Select I/O and the AC 800M controller. For redundancy, you need to install two CI845s in the MTU of the TU860 or TU865 Ethernet field communication interface.

The System 800xA provides flexible, modular I/O solutions with fieldbus technology, wireless I/O, and hardwired I/O systems such as the S800 and S900. The system is now enhanced with selective I/O, allowing each signal from the field to be individually tuned. The select I/O is Ethernet-connected and consists of a single-channel granular signal conditioning module (SCM).
