PROFIBUS DP is a high-speed multi-purpose bus protocol (up to 12Mbit/s) used to interconnect field devices such as remote I/O, drives, low-voltage electrical equipment, and controllers. PROFIBUS DP can be connected to AC 854M through the CI800A communication interface. The classic CI854A includes two PROFIBUS ports for line redundancy, and it also supports PROFIBUS master redundancy. CI854B is a new PROFIBUS-DP master station that can replace the newly installed CI854A.
By using two CI854A communication interface modules, primary redundancy is supported in PROFIBUS-DP communication. Main redundancy can be combined with CPU redundancy and CEXbus redundancy (BC810). These modules are installed on DIN rails and directly interface with the S800 I/O system and other I/O systems, including all Profibus DP/DP-V1 and FOUNDATION fieldbus proficiencies.
The PROFIBUS DP must terminate at the two outermost nodes. This is usually achieved by using connectors with built-in terminations. To ensure correct working termination, it is necessary to insert the connector and supply power.
