PROFIBUS DP is a high-speed multi-purpose bus protocol (up to 12Mbit/s) used to interconnect field devices such as remote 1/O, drives, low-voltage electrical equipment, and controllers. Classic CI854A includes two PROFIBUS ports for line redundancy, and it also supports PROFIBUS master station redundancy. CI854B is a new PROFIBUS-DP master station that can replace CI854A in new installations. By using two CI854A communication interface modules, master station redundancy is supported in PROFIBUS-DP communication. Master station redundancy can be used in combination with CPU redundancy and CEXbus (BC810). These modules are installed on DIN rails and directly connected to the S800 I/O system and other/O systems, including all PROFIBUS DP/DP-V1 and FOUNDATION Fieldbus proficient systems. The PROFIBUS DP must terminate at the two outermost nodes. This is usually achieved by using connectors with built-in terminals. To ensure correct working termination, it is necessary to insert the connector and supply power.
