The BC810 unit consists of two basic components: a substrate (TP857) and a power/logic board. The backplane is where the CEX bus connector and external power supply are located. It is grounded to the DIN rail through the metal components of the casing. The board also comes with external power voting diodes and fuses. The power and logic board includes a+3.3 V converter, logic, CEX bus interconnect driver, and interconnect cable connectors.
BC810 can be used with PM857, PM861A, PM862, PM863, PM864A, PM865, PM866, PM866A, PM867, and PM891.
In a fully redundant system with two interconnected BC810 and primary/backup CPU pairs, BC810 supports online replacement of the CPU backplane without interfering with CEX traffic. If BC810 must be replaced, all traffic to the connected CEX network segment will stop.
CEX-Bus is used to expand onboard communication ports with communication interface units. Redundant communication interfaces can also be used on the CEX bus. The CEX bus interconnect unit BC810 is used to improve its availability by dividing the CEX bus into separate segments. This improves the availability of systems with redundant communication interfaces.
