The 1797-PS2E2 module is an intrinsically safe IECEx 24 volt DC rated power module designed and manufactured by Allen Bradley in the FLEX EX I/O series. The 1797-PS2E2 PSU (Power Supply Unit) is one of the most important components in intrinsically safe systems. The purpose is to isolate the hazardous areas of the input power circuit from the relevant electrical control circuit and disable the conversion of circuit issues from the input side to the output side. Another task of the 1797-PS2E2 module is to set limits on accessible energy and adjust it to a defined security level. All 4 output channels can be independently restricted by IS. The 1797-PS2E2 Safety IECEX PSU module provides 5.4 watts of power for each of its eight output channels. This special equipment used in explosive environments provides a voltage rating of 24 V DC, which is the only power source required for components connected to the FLEX Ex system in hazardous areas. The input connectors for 24 volt DC voltage are located at terminals 1, 2, 4, and 5. There are 4 terminals covering 2 power inputs to achieve source input redundancy. The acceptable input voltage range is 18 to 32 volts DC.
