The Allen-Bradley 1746-IB32 is an SLC 500 vertical input module. The module has a nominal voltage of 24VDC and a voltage range of 15-30V DC @ 50 °C (122 °F) or 15-26.4V DC @ 60 °C (140 °F). The module is commonly used to connect electrical devices such as switches, sensors, auxiliary contacts, and other binary or on/off devices. Up to thirty-two (32) input signals may be connected to the module via embedded 32 input module channels.

It is compatible with any SLC 500 processor and is ideal for use with SLC 500 modular hardware. It can be mounted locally, along the controller or on an extended I/O rack, or along the SLC 500 communication adapter into a remote I/O chassis. It is installed directly into any available slot in the 1746 chassis, with the exception of slot 1 reserved for the SLC 500 controller.
