The Allen-Bradley 1772-LG control module is a processor control module designed for the Allen-Bradley PLC-2/30 programmable controller. The PLC-2/30 controller system consists of the 1771-LP3 processor and the I/O architecture, which is an I/O chassis containing I/O modules. When combined with I/O modules and user-written programs, the PLC-2/30 programmable controller can be used in a wide range of industrial applications, including process control, palletising, material handling, pollution control/monitoring, and measurement and measurement applications. The 1772-LP3 processor contains a CMOS memory unit (read/write) for storing program instructions, I/O status updates, and numerical values. User-written programs contain instructions detailing what needs to be done. This program is input from an Allen-Bradley 1770-T3 or 17840-T50 terminal.

During program execution, the PLC-2/30 processor monitors the input devices and powers on or off the output devices according to user program instructions. The user program can be changed according to the requirements of the application, because the memory is programmable. The data table capacity of the 1772-LP3 processor can be increased to 16 words with 8192 K of memory and 8 words with 8064 K of memory. When the local I/O rack is powered by a 1771-P3, 1771-P4, 1771-P5, or 1771-P7 power supply, the 1772-LG module may experience rack issues. A processor in test or run mode attempts to read the local rack after recovering from a power lock. This could cause a processor failure in the 1772-LG module. If a problem does occur, either restart the processor or place the key switch in the program load position and return to RUN mode.
