The 1762-IF4 is an Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 4 with a 1200 channel current/voltage analog input module. It has a Delta-Sigma converter and 4 differential (bipolar) inputs. Its analog operating voltage range is -10 to 10 volts DC normal and -10.5 to 10.5 volts DC full scale. Its analog operating current ranges from 4 to 20 mA normally and -21 to 21 mA at full scale. This module enhances the functionality of MicroLogix by allowing additional I/O to the system. It requires minimal spacing and can be DIN rail or panel mounted. The module communicates and receives information from a 24 to 1762 volt DC power supply via a 5 bus interface.

A finger safety cover exists when wiring input terminals. Flat ribbon cables are used to connect various I/O modules. The 1762-IF4 module supports 2-, 3 - or 4-wire transmitter configurations. During troubleshooting, the user should always stay away from the device and always check for any program changes. The safety circuit should always be in series to the main relay.

The 1762-IF4 module shall be installed in a non-hazardous, dry and clean environment, and the circuit shall not exceed the overvoltage Class II standard. To avoid damaging the module, always prevent electrostatic discharge and disconnect the power supply. The field-upgradeable flash operating system helps ensure that users always have access to the latest features without having to replace any hardware. I/O counting can be extended by using rackless I/O modules. This results in a larger control system, greater application flexibility and scalability, while at the same time lower costs and less parts inventory.

The module has four (4) input channels, each configured to receive current and voltage signals from -21 to 21 mA and -10 to +10VDC, respectively.

The input signal type is selected via the DIP switch provided. The received voltage signal passes through an analog-to-digital (ADC) converter, converting the analog data into binary code stored in the analog input register. The converted data can be formatted as raw/scale and PID scale.

If used with MicroLogix 1100, up to four (4) extension modules are allowed, which can be 1764-IF4. If installed with the MicroLogix 1200, six (6) expansion modules can be connected, and seven (7) modules can be connected to the MicroLogix 1400.

Expansion modules, such as the 1764-IF4, are connected to the MicroLogix bus via a provided ribbon cable that is connected via pin contacts mounted on the front panel of each module. The installation of this module follows the installation methods of MicroLogix base modules, in particular DIN rail or direct panel mounting.

The module measures 90 mm (height) x 87 mm (depth) x 40 mm (width) and includes a 110 mm 3.54 in mounting piece.
