The Allen-Bradley 1756-L61 is a ControlLogix controller. It has 2mb of user memory and 478 kb of I/O memory, and 128 MB of optional non-volatile storage memory, using a 1784-CF128 CompactFlash memory card. It is a chassis based controller that can be placed in any available slot in the 1756 ControlLogix chassis. Chassis compatible with this controller are 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, and 1756-A17. It has an open type housing and can support up to 250 controller connections. It also has a built-in RS-232 serial communication port. The RS232 port supports the following protocols :DF1 full/half duplex, ASCII, DF1 radio modem, Modbus via logic, and DH-485.


It has a maximum digital I/O of 128,000, a maximum analog I/O of 4,000, and a maximum total I/O of 128,000. The controller tasks of the 1756-L61 consist of 32 tasks, 100 programs each, event tasks: all event triggers. The 1756-L61 features a variety of communication options, such as ControlNet, Data Highway Plus, EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, SynchLink, Remote I/O, and third-party processes and device networks. The current consumption of the 1756-L61 controller is 1200ma at 5.1V DC and 14ma at 24V DC. Power consumption is 3.5W and heat dissipation is 11.9BTU /hr. It also has a continuous isolation voltage of 30V and was tested at 720V DC for 60 seconds. Its operating temperature is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius, the storage temperature is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, and the surrounding air temperature is up to 60 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity is 5% to 95%(no condensation), the vibration is 2g, the frequency is 10 to 500hz, and the working and non-working shocks are 30g and 50g, respectively.


The Allen-Bradley 1756-L61 is a ControlLogix controller with an integrated 2MB of user memory that enables the controller to handle up to 128,000 discrete and 4,000 analog I/ OS. The controller has an integrated RS232 communication port and can be logically configured to ASCII, DF1 full/half duplex, DF1 radio modem, DH-485 and Modbus.


The controller supports the implementation of independent and distributed I/O applications. Although the module allows 250 connections. Depending on the communication module used, the network connection may vary. It also supports redundancy to improve system availability, which is often required in critical systems.


The controller also integrates motion, analog input options such as encoder input, LDT input and SSI input via embedded SERCOS interface. If used with an Ethernet communication module, the driver can achieve motion via Ethernet I/P.


Programming languages supported by the controller include relay ladder, structured text, Function block Diagram (FBD), and Sequential Function diagram (SFC).


In order to communicate with the module, an RS232 communication cable is required. Proper communication for this module is 1756-CP3 or 1747-CP3, right Angle connector to controller, direct to serial port, 3 m (9.84 ft). The module uses batteries to store user programs and data in its memory. The batteries for a series controllers are 1756-BA1, 1756-BATM, and 1756-BATA. The batteries for B series controllers are 1756-BA2.
