The Allen-Bradley 1756-EN2TR is part of the ControlLogix family of communication modules. It is an Ethernet /IP(Ethernet Industrial Protocol) dual-port interface communication module. It supports universal messaging, real-time I/O messaging, and information exchange for applications such as real-time control, time synchronization, and motion. The 1756-EN2TR also complies with the CIP security standard, allowing the simultaneous transmission of security and control data and diagnostic information. It uses advanced communication chips and physical media.


The 1756-EN2TR module has an Ethernet /IP communication rate of 10-100 Mbps and uses dual copper. It supports 256 Logix and 128 TCP/IP communication connections. The module also supports embedded Ethernet communication for computers and programming workstations, so there is no need to purchase an expensive communication adapter to establish a connection to the controller. In addition, the cable required for the module is Class 5 or Class 6 cable, which can be made into a communication cable.


The module can establish up to 128 TCP connections at the same time, and for the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP), up to 256 connections can be established.


You can use the Allen-Bradley BOOTP-DHCP tool to initially configure or set an IP address. Not only for this module, the BOOTP-DHCP tool is also used for various Ethernet devices manufactured by Allen-Bradley.
