Allen-Bradley 1746-OA8 is an SLC 500 AC output module. This module is part of the discrete output module and is used to power electrical loads with an operating voltage range of 85-264 VCA and a frequency of 47-63 Hz. The module has a nominal output voltage of 120VAC and 240VAC and occupies a single slot in the 1746 chassis.


Each channel of the 1746-OA8 provides a continuous output current of 1.0 A@30 °C(86°F) or 0.50 A@60 °C(140°F), while the maximum continuous output current per module is 8.0 A@30 °C(86°F) and 4.0 A@60 °C(140°F). In addition, the ON signal delay per channel is 1ms for resistive loads and the maximum OFF delay signal per channel is 11ms for resistive loads.


The backplane current of the 1746-OA8 is 185 mA@5VDC, and the on-state output voltage drop is 1.50V@1.0A. The module has a minimum load current of 10 mA and a maximum OFF state leakage output current of 2 mA. The maximum surge current at each point of the module is 10a and lasts for 25ms.


The 1746-OA8 fits into any available slot in the 1746 chassis, except for the first slot, which is reserved for the SLC 500 processor.


This module does not support the power Removal and Insertion Under power (RIUP) function and must be connected to the chassis without power during installation.


The 1746-OA8 has a maximum leakage current of 2mA in its OFF state and a minimum current load of 10mA at each output point. The maximum current at each output point is 1A, dropping to 0.5A at 60°C, and the total current on the 1746-OA8 module is 8A, but can drop to 4A at 60°C. In its OFF state, it has a step-down of 1.50V at 1A, and the module has an output surge current of 10A at 25ms. The factory specified operating temperature of 1746-OA8 is between 0 and 60°C(32 to 140°F), it must be used at 5-95% non-condensing relative humidity and stored at a temperature between 40 and 85°C(-40 to 185°F). It can withstand operating vibrations of 57-2000 Hz of 2.5G and can withstand impact ratings of 30G. The 1746-OA8 has NEMA standard ICS 2-230 noise resistance and is UL and csa certified.
